It was a notable coup for Leica to tap Brandon Ruffin as the global ambassador for their M11-D Digital Rangefinder. To mark this significant collaboration, Ruffin not only photographed but also wrote and directed "The Artistry in Simplicity," a short film that premiered on the M11-D's launch day in September 2024.

Produced by the seasoned Xavier Cunningham, the film quickly garnered widespread acclaim. Many lauded its poetic pulse and its profound exploration of the emotional resonance in photography, skillfully weaving a through-line to the screenless M-series "D" body cameras. Complementing the cinematic endeavor, Ruffin presented a compelling suite of still images, all captured with the M11-D system. "The Artistry in Simplicity" proved an ideal vehicle, allowing Ruffin to seamlessly fuse his twin passions for filmmaking and photography into one cohesive statement for Leica.
